Lady Osler expresses her sarrow upon the death of her son and her gratitude that Cushing was with him when he died. She writes of how awful it is to see sons go off to war, knowng that they will be killed. The war was so distasteful to Revere, and yet he did his duty, of that she is proud. Her husband is heartbroken and she is anxious about him.
