Abstract:

Extract from Archibald Malloch's journal. Osler was asked to give the opening address at King's College Medical School in the Fall, to Cincinnati for the opening of the Drake Memorial Buildings, to give a lecture on Walt Whitman at Oxon. Grace said that he must not give any lecture until the Nervous system of the Textbook was done. Grace complains about Osler's habit when he was in bed having books, papers and notes all over. W.W. Francis told him that Osler was moved to tears by Francis' reading of 'Mrs. Wiggs and the Cabbage Patch'. Grace told him that when Osler was at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, he never charged his private patient anything. Reminiscences of Grace of their trip to see the leper colony.
