Abstract:

Acknowledgment of Thayer's letter of October 18th that Osler just received. They were worried about him. Comfort him over the death of Sister Susan. Sorrow over Revere's death. Feels sorry for his son who had to endure the sight of terrible scenes. It must have been a perpetual agony. Mentions Revere's dedication to his men and to the horses who were his only solace. Details of Revere's interest in his late years. The Oslers both keep up, as Revere would have wished, in their old life. They cannot brood over their sorrow. Comments on Russia. Political comments on the new place of America.
