Abstract:

Osler offers precision on the source of one of his quotations. He thinks that he got it from Lowe's Life from a quotation from one of Kidd's books. He asks Mackall to let him know if he finds any good Lavater or Conrad Gessner things. Note on the quotation, which was: "mankind is always advancing; man always remains the same; science deals with mankind." Goethe. Osler, "Science and Immortality." London, 1906, p.15.
