Greetings for the new year. Hopes 1918 will see the world through this bloody mess. Mentions their hearts broken. Invites Warren's son to phone them when he will be in England. They had 14 American surgeons at their Christmas dinner. Will send him shortly his scheme of his catalogue under the section Anaesthesia. Still lacks three items of primary importance : Morton's original papers and the Boston Medical and Surgery Journal for 46-47. Goodspeed says they can be found.

Fock has sent him the catalogue. Osler comments about his content. It would be useful for the Johns Hopkins Medical School, only that it does not worth the price asked. He is glad that Klebs liked the Linacre. Hiersemann sent him a word about an Aderlass Kalender, of which they have a number of the very earliest at the Bodleian. He has asked Fock for the lowest figure for the Pagel Library before writing to Baltimore.
